Aquarius Full Moon

1 degree Aquarius / Leo

Today's Aquarius Full Moon is the first of two Aquarius Full Moons in a row. As today's is near the beginning of Aquarius at 1 degree, besieged between intense Pluto and stern Saturn, it carries both the promise of transformation as well as the potential of some much-needed reality checks.

The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon is "an unexpected thunderstorm."

When I think of unexpected thunderstorms, I think Uranus, and this Full Moon activates the Fixed Cross which in 2021 is highly charged by the Saturn-Uranus square. Bolts from the blue awaken us out of our complacency. And whether it's a sudden windfall of fortune or an unwelcomed shattering of expectations, it opens a new pathway of potential.

2021 is the Great Experiment. What have you been experimenting with in your life? In Aquarius, we're called toward the realm of the transpersonal - what we do has ripple effects beyond ourselves. Communities can fill the void left by ineffective or incompetent structures such as governments, corporations and authority figures. And as Saturn is still retrograde, we have the opportunity to internalize authority.

The air sign of Aquarius is fueled by ideas and ideals. It's the making of activists and rebels with a cause. Right now is the time to test your ideas in the real world and receive information from them. Saturn will either bring success or failure. However, neither needs to be a judgement, it simply serves as information for future success.

Whereas the Uranian element loves to throw spaghetti on the wall to see what sticks and break the mold of limited paradigms, Saturn wants purpose and sustainability. This is a time of refinement of high ideals so that they can become more real in the world.

The upcoming Aquarius Full Moon on August 22nd at 29 Aquarius, will conjoin expansive Jupiter which suggests a more hopeful outlook. Often when we face the reality of Saturn and do the unglamorous work, there's a certain freedom that comes from having strength built upon self-trust.

Full Moon Reflection:
// Meditate on the mixture of hope and responsibility that thrums through 2021, beginning with the Capricorn Solstice back on December 21, 2020.
// Remember how much hope was touted all through the ethers at that time about the Brave New World we're entering.
// What have you learned about the role of hope? About work?
// What ideas need to be refined now?

Creating meaning and purpose in our lives must be equal parts hope, courage and inspiration as well as the Saturnian qualities of reality, discipline and work. Ultimately, they all rest on resilient self-trust.
